new products

Between my real job and making items for consignment, I haven't had much time to create new items for my etsy shop.  I feel like I am making the same things over and over again, so I decided to take some time over the Thanksgiving weekend to work on some new products.

1121_pug_bag I'll be listing quite a few new things over the next two weeks, but I started today with this new pug bag.  This is not completely "new" because I made a pug bag once before, but I'm loving this new version and its yellowy-brown goodness.

Next up to be listed in my shop will be this new owl card that I made with my Gocco printer.  There were several tiny Gocco related catastrophes that occured while making this card, but in the end I was happy with the final version of the product.  I just wish the Gocco inks and screens were less expensive... I am terrified that something might go wrong and that there might be wasted ink or worse yet, a wasted screen.  It is a very stressful craft!  More cool stuff to come in the next few weeks!

"a harvest of holiday delights"

1124While thumbing through some old craft magazines to get some ideas (and some laughs), I happened upon this old Rice Krispies ad.  And wouldn't you know it was just a few days late too, otherwise I could have presented my family with this cornucopia o' krispies treats.  The Chocolate Marshmallow Krisps don't look too bad, but the Date Nut Balls are not winning me over.  The ad is dated 1982, but these recipes could be current for all I know (I haven't bought Rice Krispies in forever).  The more I am typing this, the more I am getting in the mood for some straight up Rice Krispies Treats... I might be making a grocery run tomorrow morning!

good news, bad news

Mtv_2 Well, the good news is that one of my designs was featured in the holiday gift guide at style.mtv.com.  I had known it was coming because they contacted me a couple of months ago for pictures.  The bad news is that they link directly to Etsy and not directly to my Etsy shop!  Maybe people will still find me though... publicity is publicity, right?

birthday surprise!

1117_gifts A big thanks to my friend Amy for sending these "belated birthday goodies".  A belated gift is even better than a non-belated gift because it is like a little post birthday celebration that keeps the party going just when you thought it was all over!  I love the fabrics that she picked out and who can resist vintage Sears buttons!  I also love the cute postcard she sent which features some of Amy's tiny clay food (go check her stuff out at Amyville).

1117_softies I was also thrilled to get the "Softies" book that I have been seeing appear on several different blogs lately.  It has some really cute projects and the photography in the book is amazing... you should go get your own now!

Thanks again Amy.  As usual, you rock!

holiday items

1113_deer_cards_3 Though I have barely had any time with my hectic work schedule, I have been trying to create some holiday items for my Etsy shop during the few moments I have had free in the last two weeks.  I would have liked to have more variety, but I should be pleased that I have at least a few items ready.

First up is a set of reindeer note cards.  Each set will include three note cards and envelopes: one each in blue, green, and red.  The set includes three transparent labels that say happy holidays, merry christmas, and season's greetings.  I also wanted to include a "happy chanukah", but honestly, I looked everywhere and couldn't figure out what the correct spelling was!?!?  Between the different colored greeting labels, envelopes, and reindeer cards, the buyer can customize their greetings.

1113_deer_ornament_2 Up next are two different types of fabric ornaments.  The first is a stuffed reindeer ornament.  I am really pleased with this ornament and it is the closest thing I have ever done to what might be considered rustic or even... eek... country.  It is about four inches tall is made with cotton canvas and printed with my trusty Gocco printer!  The deer has been sewn together leaving the edges unfinished... and speaking of unfinished edges, I also made a set of three chipmunks that have been hand silkscreened in white ink on three different colors of fleece: brown, turquoise, and lime green.  These are sewn flat to another piece of fabric and I haven't decided if these should be sold as a set or individually... any suggestions?
