This pillow set was made for a Spoonflower fabric design contest which was to create a cut and sew plush design that would fit on a fat quarter of fabric.  I had it printed on cotton sateen and made these pillows to make sure that everything worked out alright.  They are about 9.5 inches tall and I am happy with the results!

Please help me out with a vote at the plush pattern contest.  You just go through the nine pages of entries and click on the designs you like (hopefully mine will be one of them) and then submit your entry on the last page.

I do not plan on selling these pillows, but you can buy the design and make it yourself for as little as $11 depending on the fabric you choose to print it on. 

1980's Hi Fi

So, the title of this blogpost sounds a lot more hip than the actual content.... I won't be writing about any sort of cool eighties sound system... no, I'm talking about an obnoxiously eighties dinnerware pattern by Studio Nova. 

 
I spotted this "Hi Fi" pattern at a Goodwill Store in Pennsylvania today and my first reaction was to chuckle in awe of how dated they were.  They were brazenly standing out from the dozens of beige and gray stoneware dish sets surrounding them.  The more I studied them, the more that the insane primary color bands began to seduce me.  Next thing I knew all 25 pieces were making their way into my cart and I was heading towards the checkout!  These things tend to happen from time to time. 

The set is in excellent condition and I walked away with 8 dinner plates, 5 bowls, 8 salad plates, 1 large serving bowl, and a creamer & sugar set... all for $21!  I'm looking forward to coordinating a very colorful meal for their debut :)

Here is a sample of a fabric design that I entered in the weekly Spoonflower design contest.  The theme this week was sharks and I decided to take a slightly slanted approach.  It is entitled "My Illustrated Guide to Sharks".  I hope you like it... if you do, please help me out by going to the contest page, finding my design, and voting on it!  To vote, just click on the design (it will get a green border around it) and then work your way to the last page of designs to submit your vote - you can vote for more than one design too!
