flea market season is officially open

I made an impromptu stop at a local flea market today and ended up leaving with (literally) armfuls of stuff.  Today's haul included some ceramics from the fifties and sixties, some Pyrex bowls (always my favorite find), character glasses from the 70s and 80s, as well as some other odds & ends.  The downside of this particular flea market is that you are literally ferreting around through boxes and piles of dirty things to find your treasures (I spent an hour soaking and cleaning all of this stuff when I got home).   Of course, the upside is the price... all of this was $23!  Here are some close up shots:

Everyone needs a ceramic daschsund planter, right?  The Pyrex snowflake pattern bowls are the first items I have with that design.  I am loving the design on the old bird seed tins.  And yes, you are right, the little ceramic cat is possibly the tackiest thing ever made in the world... complete with gold painted details and rhinestones (I can't help loving it as much as I hate it).

Just like every other male in his thirites, I desperately needed this butterscotch colored glass "granny" candy dish.  The Star Wars and Super Mario Brothers glasses are rocking my world and the Big Mac candy tin makes me smile every time I look at it!

This large fruit bowl is marked RANSBURG IND CO.  The paint is worn in some areas, but I think it adds to the charm.  My fruit is getting ready to move into this new home!

Last are these five plates marked "Bucks County" by Royal Sebring Ohio.  I was debating these until the dealer told me I could have all five for a $1... SOLD!

what's the new owl?

The Spoonflower Fabric Contest this week is "What's the new owl?"  As you may have noticed on etsy or spoonflower, there is no shortage of owl designs... I have contributed to the owl epidemic myself ;)   So in order to honor some more animals, the only rule for this contest was "NO OWLS!"

cupcake notecard set contest winner

Here are the results of the cupcake notecard contest that I posted last week. A big thanks to everyone that participated! I used www.random.org to generate the winning random number and then selected the blog post (which were numbered in the order they were received) that corresponded with the winning number (which was #2 by Sand).  The winner has five days to claim their prize.  Check back for more giveaways in the upcoming months!

thank you easter bunny

I'm looking forward to spending some time with my family today and to getting some yummy food at my parents house.  Hope you all have a nice day as well...and, yes, thank you Easter Bunny!

tea towels

Zazzle is now offering print on demand tea towels that are printed by Zazzle and then cut and sewn by American Mojo (a company that helps create maufacturing jobs for mothers in need).  I tried printing a towel with a design I made that is inspired by and old sheet of stickers from the 1980s.  I was so pleased when the towel arrived yesterday... the print quality is outstanding and the craftmanship is really solid.  The towel itself is a high quality (nice and thick) and is bigger than I thought measuring 16" by 24".  I can't wait to design another one!
